Buzzpole (CEO Jae-hoon Jeong) announced that it signed a contract for the development and business cooperation of artificial intelligence solutions related to gastroscopy with a
team led by Professor Chang-seok Bang of the Department of Gastroenterology at Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital and started to develop services in earnest.
It was possible because the technical achievements of the artificial intelligence algorithm developed in-house for cerebral aneurysm and carotid artery ultrasound jointly developed
with Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital were proven, and the differentiated capabilities of commercialization at home and abroad were highly evaluated.
It aims to establish itself as a CDSS (Clinical Decision Support System) that can support doctors' decisions through an optimized artificial intelligence engine when abnormal lesions
such as infiltration and non-infiltration are discovered during gastroscopy.
Sung-won Choi, director of Buzzpole, said, “We expect it to be a very good example for domestic commercialization. Although I cannot disclose the details, we have completed a
business model that can dramatically support the decision of a doctor, not a medical artificial intelligence service that replaces a doctor. I am even more delighted to be able to
present a business model that can coexist with excellent medical staff in Korea and achieve win-win results through joint overseas expansion.”
Hallym University Chuncheon Sacred Heart Hospital Professor Chang-seok Bang said, “This gastroscopy service model planned with Buzzpole can expect explosive demand not only domestically but also overseas, and the business model itself planned from the beginning is proceeding with not only the expansion of additional service models but also overseas
competitiveness in mind. In addition, joint research has started through the already secured endoscopy big data, and the development of the actual service will be completed within
the first half of this year, so the expectation is very high.”
An official from Buzzpole said, “If the initial market atmosphere for domestic artificial intelligence technology was a nonsense atmosphere focused on self-development of artificial intelligence-based technologies such as TensorFlow, it is fortunate and encouraging that a market atmosphere is gradually forming where the importance of big data, development
algorithms, and the importance of successful business models are gradually established. In addition, with the help of artificial intelligence technology, the skills and know-how of the best medical staff in Korea recognized around the world will help to establish itself as the No. 1 medical ICT country recognized overseas.”
